David Blundin - Chairman and CEO

David Blundin is a co-founder of Adverplex. In addition to his role at Adverplex, David is currently chairman of the board at Vestmark, where he served as CEO from 2001 to 2008. Previously, he was Chief Technologist at Vignette Corporation. Prior to Vignette, David was the founder, CEO and Chairman of DataSage, Inc. DataSage was acquired by Vignette in a half-billion dollar transaction in January of 2000. DataSage’s software enabled businesses to centrally capture and analyze all of their electronic interactions and use that information to personalize interactions with customers. Prior to 1997, David was President and CEO of Cirrus Recognition Systems, a data mining software company. Previously, he was among the first ten employees at MicroStrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) and served on MicroStrategy’s board of directors in 2003 and 2004. David received a B.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he researched neural network technology at MIT’s renowned Artificial Intelligence laboratory. Currently, he is a limited partner in three Boston area venture funds, a co-founding board member of a hedge fund that employs data mining techniques, and a board member at several technology start-up companies.

Dr. John Byers - Chief Scientist

John Byers brings fifteen years of research experience in Internet content delivery and algorithms for large-scale networked applications to Adverplex. John is a tenured Professor of Computer Science at Boston University and is an internationally-recognized expert in computer networking and algorithms. He has authored more than 50 widely-cited publications, is a co-inventor of several patents, and is Associate Editor of the journal, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking. Concurrent with his academic appointment, John spent five years as Affiliated Scientist and member of the technical advisory board at Digital Fountain, Inc. He received his B.A. from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Tom Ellis - VP of Online Marketing

Tom Ellis brings 8 years of experience in online performance marketing in e-commerce, B2B and B2C lead generation. He has pioneered PPC, Multivariate Testing, and Funnel Optimization efforts for in-house marketing teams in the engineering and online publishing sectors. Prior to coming to Adverplex, Tom managed an agency team of PPC experts launching and optimizing SEM campaigns for brand names including Scholastic, Klutz, Back to Basic Toys and AT Cross. Tom received his B.A. in English from Loyola University, New Orleans.

Dr. Jonathan Shapiro - Chief Technical Officer

Jonathan Shapiro has over 15 years of experience researching and building large-scale Internet services. As a Professor of Computer Science at Michigan State University, his research focused on the role of economic behavior in computer networks and distributed applications. Prior to his academic work he was a senior engineer at News Internet Services, a News Corporation company, where his team brought Fox News, Fox Sports and numerous other Newscorp brands to the Web for the first time. Jonathan received his BA in Physics from Columbia University and his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
